Prime Air: August 31st Launch Date?

Prime Air is a service that Amazon is launching that will use drones to deliver your packages (up to 5lbs) in 30 minutes or less. Back in 2013, Jeff Bezos said that the drone delivery program could be up and running in 4 0r 5 years. Then, last June an Amazon higher up said Prime Air’s launch could happen in a couple of months. Business Insider was able to get ahold of an internal report that predicts that the launch will be August 31st.

So, I wasn’t able to read the article since I don’t subscriber to BI but there were a couple of interesting tidbits I was able to find just from searching.

Amazon must be getting a big case of FOMO as companies like Zipline and Alphabet’s Wing have been doing drone deliveries during this pandemic. Apparently there are about 20K delivery drones that roam our skies today and Gartner predicts that number is going to hit 1M+ by 2026. The sky is about to get a lot more busy.
